Day 1 – A Day in the Parks
Experience nature at Bourbonnais Township Park District’s Whispering Willows Park. Explore the 1.2 miles of trails and stop by Willowhaven Interpretive Center. Willowhaven offers hand-on displays, live animals and historical displays all highlighting natural splendor of the outdoors. The whole family can play spot-the-wildlife in the park’s open prairies, wetlands and scenic ponds.
After your excursion, stop by the Country Fruit Market for a unique lunch. Sandwiches are made fresh when you order with premium ingredients and choices of accompaniments include soups, chips, salads and of course a juicy selection of fruits! As an added bonus, visit the attached greenhouses for plant selections and a fabulous waterfall display!
Round out your day by cooling off at Splash Valley Aquatic Park. Splashtacular fun awaits the whole family at the area’s premier water park that includes a lap pool, several water slides, Lazy River, and two zero-depth entry pools – one especially for toddlers!
Day 2 – A Day at the Farm
The Perry Farm Park is a dynamic 170-acres packed with recreation opportunities the whole family will enjoy! For the adults there are several captivating features: Four miles of paved trails, a fruit orchard, rose gardens and an Illinois Nature Preserve featuring the Indian Caves and ravine formed by Bourbonnais Creek. For the kids there is a Living History Farm Complete with Farm Animals and various playgrounds. Be sure to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it in one of the picnic shelters or picturesque gazebos.
After your lunch in the same park you can visit the Exploration Station...a children's museum. This is a hands-on exploration and discovery museum for children and their families, teachers and care givers. At Exploration Station, children can climb inside the tower of a medieval castle, fly a jet plane, sail on a pirate ship, dig for dinosaurs, become a store clerk, drive a tractor and much more.
