Day One
Afternoon – Once in the Crescent City, make plans to visit the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, which is recognized as one of the nation’s leading aquariums, located on the banks of the Mississippi River in the Historic French Quarter. It’s an underwater adventure featuring over a million gallons of water and habitats that hold 15,000 aquatic species. Following a tour of the Aquarium, you can enjoy an “in your face” entertainment extravaganza at the Entergy IMAX Theatre, which is just next door or walk on over to the new Audubon Insectarium, the largest of its kind in the U.S. The Insectarium gives every visitor a unique and interactive encounter with nature.
For dinner, you may want to try Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Deanie’s Seafood, Hard Rock Café, House of Blues, or Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Café, (just to name a few!!). After dinner, the group can take in a Dixieland Jazz cruise aboard
an authentic steamboat or paddlewheeler, just like in the days gone by. See
and feel the power and history of the Mississippi River and it’s infl uence on
New Orleans.
To end your evening, you may want to enjoy a traditional local treat…..Café au Lait (or Chocolate Milk!) and Beignets (a French donut, without the hole) at world famous Café du Monde, an open-air café located in the heart of the Vieux Carre (French Quarter). The group may want to watch the beignet making through windows at the back of the café!
Day Two
Your step-on-guide will meet your coach at the Louisiana Superdome
(tours are no longer conducted inside the arena) to begin your City
Sightseeing Tour to include our “cities of the dead” – our unique aboveground
burial system. After the tour, your group can shop and dine at the
Riverwalk Marketplace’s unique shops, push carts and eateries, all while
boasting spectacular views of the Mississippi River.
After lunch, you may want to visit one of our many museums, such as the Louisiana Children’s Museum, the Musee Conti Wax Museum, the National World War II Museum, The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, The Pharmacy Museum, or any of the Louisiana State Museums located around the French Quarter (the Cabildo, the Presbytere).
Dinner this evening can be at a local skating rink or bowling alley, or at one of the many world-famous restaurants that New Orleans has to offer. Typically the weather in New Orleans is quite mild, so a pizza party around your hotel pool might be an option as well.
Day Three
After breakfast this morning, you will venture outside of New Orleans where you will travel through the Swamps and Bayous with a local Cajun guide. Your group will see alligators, egrets, fl ora, birds and more. You may even get to
feed marshmallows to an alligator!!
Later, your group may want to enjoy a picnic lunch on the way
to a visit of one of our magnifi cent Plantation Homes that
line the Mississippi River, many of which are National Historic
Landmarks. You can tour one of these national treasures before
heading back into New Orleans.
Evening – Get ready for a foot stompin’ and toe tappin’ evening when your group takes in one of our Cajun Music Restaurants, where you can dine on Cajun and Creole specialties. Younger kids and adults alike get out on the dance fl oor to work off that rich meal with some Cajun and Zydeco twostepping.
Spend one last night in the Big Easy before heading back home in the morning.
