Hagerstown, MD is the perfect place to visit at Christmas! The tour takes place the first weekend of each December, and includes a little Christmas shopping at Prime Outlets, a Wild West Christmas show, and a “winter wonderland” of decorated trees. The renowned Memorial Illumination at Antietam Battlefield – named an ABA Top 100 Event for 2008 is sure to provide a lasting memory of your tour. Make a Maryland Memory this December!

FRIDAY EVENING:
Arrive in Hagerstown, MD for dinner at the legendary Old South Mountain Inn. Poised atop scenic, South Mountain in the Allegheny Mountains, and founded circa 1732.
Or, take in dinner and a play the Washington County Playhouse . Located in the heart of Historic Downtown Hagerstown, Maryland and has been entertaining the tri-state area for more than 20 years.

SATURDAY:
Depart for City Park and the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. An amazing collection with pieces ranging from Old Masters to works by contemporary artists – there’s even a Picasso! Experience the priceless treasures of one of the finest regional art museums in the United States.
Also in City Park, is the Jonathan Hager House, the original home of Hagerstown’s founder, Jonathan Hager. The home is maintained with authentic pieces of the 1740’s frontier era. At Christmas time you can tour the home as hear about authentic German Christmas traditions as they were celebrated during frotier times.
Lunch as a group or on your own in our Arts & Entertainment District at one of our many fine eateries: Duffy’s on Potomac, The Gourmet Goat, Leila’s Kitchen, Durango’s, The Plum, Durango’s, or the Schmankerl Stube Bavarian Restaurant. All are within one block walking distance of our Public Square.
Board bus for the Festival of Trees. Featuring 40-50 beautifully decorated holiday trees, model trains, entertainment and a gift shop. Trees have been decorated by local professionals, children & businesses and each has a unique theme. Join in on one of their special events, such as a senior social or a holiday tea.
Depart for the Rural Heritage Museum. There you will go back in time to the late 1700’s/early 1800’s. Visit their cabins and see an authentic hearth cooking demonstration. Exhibits include an early Conestoga wagon, a country store, and Victorian era farm house furnishings, and more!
Depart for Antietam Recreation for the Cowboy Christmas Show
Fun pre-show activities include an old-fashioned hayride (watch out for outlaws!), roast marshmallows, a live nativity and petting zoo, and get a picture taken in the western photo area. Guests are then seated for dinner and the costumed cast will serve you. After dinner, it’s SHOWTIME! The dramatic Old West show is full of swishing hoop skirts, amazing roping and bull-whip tricks, romance, comedy, and a touching Christmas message.
Depart for Antietam Battlefield for the annual Memorial Illumination. Both beautiful and somber, a ranger can guide you along the 5 mile tour road where you will view 23,000 candles set in the fields. Each candle represents a casualty at the battle of Antietam.
