Tour Dates:

Number of Days: 3

DAY 1:
By auto…The best way to see the park is with a Scenic Interpretive
Red “Jammer” Bus Tour. Your journey starts in the cedar and hemlock
forests of the McDonald Valley. Travel up The Going-to-the-Sun Road
along a glacially formed arête to the top of the Crown of the
Continent at Logan Pass. Head down through the St. Mary Valley and
out to the prairies of Big Sky Country, then into the magnificent
Swiftcurrent Valley. Enjoy glacial views and an optional lunch at Many
Glacier Hotel’s Ptarmigan Dining Room. Experience an encore vista on
your return trip to the west side. (Departs Lake McDonald Lodge at
10am; tour lasts 7.5 hours.)

DAY 2:
By land…Make a visit to Apgar Village to find out more about Glacier
National Park. In Apgar Village you will find a variety of gift shops, a
restaurant, camp store, and lodging. The Apgar Visitor Center and
Apgar Backcountry Office, also located here, are where you can speak
with a Park Ranger to plan your visit and learn all about the wonders of
Glacier National Park. The foot of Lake McDonald is also located in
Apgar Village where one can relax on the shores or rent boats and
canoes.

To continue your adventure, hop on a free park shuttle to Avalanche
Creek area and stroll the Trail of the Cedars (.7 loop trail), or continue
your exploration with a hike into Avalanche Lake (2 miles each way).

DAY 3:
By water…Start the day with a Lake McDonald Boat Cruise. Step onto a
classic wooden boat and we’ll glide across beautiful alpine lakes nestled
among Glacier’s peaks. We can show you a spectacular side of
Glacier not visible from the road. And we’ll share with you our love for
and knowledge of this incredibly special place. Departing from the
dock lakeside of Lake McDonald Lodge, the tours cross to the west
shore to view more remote areas.

With the warmth of the afternoon, then take a half-day scenic float trip
on the Scenic Trips float along a six-mile stretch of the Middle Fork. The
trip begins with a few miles of fantastic mountain views. Along this
stretch of river we often see eagles, osprey, water ouzels, and a wide
variety of other birds. Occasionally we float by black bear, whitetail
deer, and beavers. After three miles of mountain views, the river enters a
gorgeous canyon with sheer rock walls and active trout. This canyon is
truly spectacular and can only be seen from a raft. No experience is
necessary for this trip. This trip is ideal for families with small children or
for anyone who would rather skip the whitewater.
