DAY 1:
Even if it’s snowing when you arrive in Holland, you’ll easily stroll through our award-winning downtown. The heated sidewalks provide effortless Christmas shopping at our unique boutiques, gift shops, and galleries. After you check into one of our fine hotels, you’ll enjoy a sumptuous dinner with the kind of friendly service for which Holland is famous. Then it’s off to the Kerstmarkt, an authentic European open-air market with delightful gifts and holiday treats from historically-crafted booths. Depending on your day of arrival, you could also take in one of a variety of holiday music concerts, a holiday theatrical performance, the Parade of Lights, Sinterklaas Eve, or our Holiday Open House with carolers, roasting chestnuts, and 1,500 luminaries lining the sidewalks.
DAY 2:
After breakfast, you’ll visit the import shops of Nelis’ Dutch Village. There you will find authentic Dutch lace, Delftware, wooden bowls, hand-carved candles, and much more. The next stop is the DeKlomp Wooden Shoe and Delft Factory where artisans will be hand-carving “Klompen” and hand-painting the only authentic Delftware made in the U.S. Lunch will include a delightful visit from Sinterklaas and his mischievous Zwarte Piet helpers. You’ll then tour through the Holland Museum, which features Holland’s history, special holiday exhibits, and the Dutch Galleries with their spectacular collection of 17th, 18th, and 19th century painting, artifacts, and furniture from the Netherlands. A Victorian Tea awaits you at the Cappon House, a Victorian home that has been fully restored and beautifully decorated for the holidays. Before you depart Holland, consider a trip to Grand Rapids’ Frederik Meijer Gardens and their amazing “Christmas around the World” display.
