Upon Arrival at Rome Fiumicino Airport, transfer to the hotel in Pomezia. Enjoy a “Welcome to Italy" dinner in the hotel this evening.
DAY 3: Rome - Pomezia
Highlights during the city sightseeing tour are the Trajan and Roman Forums, the Arch of Constantine, and the Colosseum. As you walk this marvelous city, stop at some of the beautiful churches; each one is a museum in its own right. Another possibility is to come along on the afternoon optional 'Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel' excursion.
DAY 4: Assisi – Motecatini - Terme
Follow the main Autostrada (highway) north and make an extended lunch stop in Assisi. Visit the tremendous 13th-century Basilica of St. Francis, which is well worth a visit during your free time. Before leaving, take a tour of the Perugina chocolate factory. Your final destination for today is Montecantini-Terme where you will spend the next five nights.
DAY 5: Florence - Montecatini-Terme
This day is devoted to artistically glorious Florence. The first architectural masterpieces you will notice during the guided tour stand on the Piazza del Duomo: the 'Duomo'; and Giotto's 'campanile' (bell tower). The rest of the day is yours to explore Florence. You may wish to visit the world famous Pitti Palace, the largest museum complex in Florence. Afterwards, stroll through the adjoining Boboli Gardens to enjoy the statues, grottos and fountains
DAY 6: Montecatini-Terme
Spend a relaxing day in Montecatini-Terme. Perhaps begin with a walk through classic pavilions and parks and past the Art Nouveau buildings that characterize this Spa town. If you wish to add another popular city to your visit, join the full day, optional 'Venice' excursion.
DAY 7: Pisa – Montecatini-Terme
Drive to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower. The complete complex consists of the Duomo, and immense Baptistry and the bell tower (which is more often referred to as the Leaning Tower). Return to Montecatini-Terme; you might wish to visit a local spa for a swim in the therapeutic waters, a mud bath, a relaxing massage, or play a round of golf.
DAY 8: Montecatini-Terme
A full free day to do as you wish. You might consider returning to Florence by train or further enjoy the recreational options. Another choice is the full day optional 'San Gimignano, Chianti & Dinner' excursion, during which you will be offered an opportunity to join a cooking class.
DAY 9: Siena - Pomezia
Your last morning in Tuscany takes you past olive groves and into Siena. Sightseeing starts on the Piazza del Campo, the main square of Siena. You must spend some time studying the Duomo of Siena, a mix of Gothic and Romanesque architecture. After independent lunch, leave Tuscany to head back to Rome.
DAY 10: Daytime flight back to the USA
Transfer to Rome Airport for your return flight home.
